We are delighted that you have decided to embark on this adventure, start from Gargellen and have fun on the trail of the smugglers!
Sporty, challenging, breathtaking - the Madrisa round tour offers you a special kind of border-crossing experience. The Rätikon Pass hike from Gargellen takes you through the striking Madrisa massif at over 2,000 meters and crosses international borders. Where smugglers once plied their trade, today easily accessible paths offer you a unique nature experience that will leave a lasting impression.
The one-day circular tour runs along marked Alpine paths from the mountain station of the Gargellner Bergbahnen cable car via the Gafierjoch to Madrisa-Land above the Swiss monastery. You return to Gargellen via the Schlappinerjoch.
Fitness and athleticism are required, but you will be rewarded with unique views. A seven-hour hike in a high alpine setting may push you to your limits. That's why we recommend doing the Madrisa round tour with a Montafon mountain guide. They will tell you exciting stories from the time of the muleteers and smugglers.
