Mountain experience “Mining in the Montafon”

Millennia of knowledge using archaeology and its methods (only in German)

Dive into the history of the Montafon, from the Stone and Bronze Ages, to mining in the Middle Ages, to the present day. The 12 stations of the Silberpfad (Silver Trail), some interactive, show the various archaeological methods, from the back-breaking work of the archaeologists who did the digging to the scientists’ high-tech lab. This topic is explained in detail and in all its aspects, yet so that it is easily understandable. Each of the stations forms a puzzle piece that fits into the big picture of the archaeological work at the end of the tour.

A very special experience for people interested in culture and history, which communicates the settlement history easily and clearly.

The ‘free’ guided tours are offered by Klaus Bertle, long-time cultural mediator at the Montafon museums, every Wednesday from 18 June 2025 to Wednesday, 1 October 2025.

The meeting point is at 9:55 a.m. (ascent at 9:45 a.m.) at the mountain station of the Montafon Kristbergbahn, where Klaus will meet you.
