Barrier-free travel in the Montafon
Enjoy your vacation without obstacles
Travel for people with reduced mobility by bus and train in the Montafon is largely possible. Please register in advance at the Schruns railroad station so that sufficient space can be provided on the bus and train (T. +43 5556 9000 800). There are both underfloor and overfloor buses. On the trains are available with different equipment.

Arrival - distance to the next stop:
The bus stop is located directly at the Montafon Kristbergbahn valley station
The route from the barrier-free parking lot at the valley station of the Montafon Kristbergbahn, which is subject to a charge in the summer months (May to October), is at ground level. The entrance and exit at the valley and mountain stations are also barrier-free.
Surface: The paths at the mountain station of the Montafon Kristbergbahn are mostly gravelled. During the snow season from December to the beginning of April, the entire Kristberg is a "car-free" zone and the routes can only be used as prepared winter hiking trails.
The main entrance:
We have automatic sliding glass doors at the entrance and exit, which are barrier-free.
Features:
There is at least a space of 200 cm x 150 cm in front of the door in the opening area (interpolation possible) AND there is a free space of at least 120 cm x 150 cm after the door.
Public WC's:
The WC's at the valley station are accessible via a staircase with four steps and at the mountain station via a single step with a height of approx. 15cm!
Doors:
!! The WC entrance doors are hinged doors that open inwards and are at least 80 cm wide.
A horizontal pull handle is mounted on the inside of the door of the individual WC cubicles.
There is a rotary handle on the inside for locking.
The WC entrance doors are easily recognizable (labelling with WC's).
The single-lever mixer can be operated at a depth of 20 to 35 cm, measured from the front edge of the washbasin.
The mirror is fixed to the wall (i.e. does not swivel).
The upper edge of the mirror is mounted at a height of at least 180 cm.
WC seat:
The seat depth is more than 55 cm.
A toilet lid is fitted to the toilet bowl.
Equipment:
There is a wheelchair-accessible washbasin.
The washbasin is equipped with a single-lever mixer.
All fittings such as shelves, paper holders, towel dispensers, soap dispensers and the like are mounted at a height of between 80 cm and 110 cm

Registered carer(s), entered in the disabled person's pass (disabled person's pass) with B = accompanying person or H = assistance, receive a reduced mountain railway ticket.
