The first chapel on the present site as built in 1479; the house of worship was extended with the galleried church in 1614. In 1650/51, following the disengagement of the parish of Tschagguns, the chapel was plain and undecorated. 1777 began with the staged rebuilding of the church nave; the choir was renovated in 1792. A significant internal renovation took place in 1850-51. It was actually supposed to be demolished in 1958 to make way for the new church, but was placed under monument protection. It was fully restored in 1990-1992 and finally reconsecrated on 29 November 1992. Sacral concerts, baptisms and rosaries are held in the cemetery church today.
